Brainspotting Therapy
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that uses your visual field and focused attention to help you process difficult emotions, stress, trauma, and experiences that may still be affecting you today.
Sometimes, you may understand something intellectually but still notice that your body or emotions react strongly to certain situations. You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or highly reactive to certain triggers without fully understanding why. Brainspotting can help you work with both your thoughts and your body's responses to these experiences.
During a Brainspotting session, we identify a specific point in your visual field that may be connected to a particular emotion, memory, or physical sensation. You are guided to focus your attention on that point while noticing what comes up for you. Rather than needing to explain or talk through every detail of an experience, Brainspotting allows you to slow down and pay attention to your internal experience while remaining supported by your therapist.
The process can help you become more aware of emotions, physical sensations, thoughts, and memories that may be connected to what you are experiencing today. We move at a pace that feels manageable, and you remain in control throughout the session.
Why Choose Brainspotting Therapy?
Brainspotting can be especially helpful if you feel like you have talked about an issue many times but still experience the same emotional or physical reactions.
This approach may help you:
Process difficult or distressing experiences
Increase awareness of the connection between emotions and physical sensations
Reduce emotional reactivity and feelings of overwhelm
Work through trauma and stressful experiences
Develop greater self-awareness and emotional regulation
Access experiences that may be difficult to put into words
Brainspotting does not require you to retell every detail of a painful experience. Instead, we focus on what you are experiencing in the present and allow the process to unfold at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
If you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, emotional overwhelm, or reactions that seem difficult to explain, Brainspotting may be an approach worth exploring. Contact me for a free 15-minute consultation to talk about what you are experiencing and whether Brainspotting may be a good fit for you.
